🙆🏻‍♂️ DOING

Cooking for me and my homies

Wind down walks in the evening

Movie nights twice a week, at least

I was 17 years old and it was the first time I made real money creating murals and designing clothes for people and organizations of all shapes and sizes. Despite my creative flair, I wished to study systems with a larger goal to support the arts, perhaps even start a company. With a B. Sc. in Economics, I founded my first venture in India - a cultural centre called Kala Kollective where artists, musicians, filmmakers and writers found their sanctuary. My community work was widely covered by various publications, newspapers and the radio.

Running the centre altered the way I see my place in the world. The future-looking nature of design with a foot in the past piqued my interests like no other and I went on to pursue a career as a designer with a specific interest in improving customer experiences. After working as a UX Designer, I developed a new love for services and systems that engage multiple actors and runs deep across touchpoints and interactions. I’ve practiced this for Edvo, IDS, Pudgy World, Laniakea, Winvesta and more.

My strategy to stay informed is listening to podcasts, exploring new products everyday, consuming expert content and debating with peers. Currently, I am researching the problems of context switching and data deluge for creative freelancers in the US when using hundreds of different apps, devices and storages.

" All the insights that Yash presented sound very mature and comprehensive. I'm curious to see where he goes! "

 Speaking

I was invited as a Young Professional Speaker for Service Design Network's Next Gen Conference in May 2023, where I spoke about personal data deluge and the carbon footprint of cloud storage systems.

This presentation later converted into an academic thesis where I designed an integrated social browser for creative freelancers in the US.

 Coaching

I was invited by Savannah College of Art and Design to deliver a week-long workshop for Rising Juniors and Seniors interested in Service Design and what it means to have a designer's mindset.

The workshop was broken down into 4 stages where the students tried to improve the experience of using gas stations and gym facilities.
